I got back my 5D from repair quite earlier than expected. To celebrate this pleasant surprise I shot something that I had been wanting to do for a long time and here is that result. I’m not sure if it has come out any good as the light was very low and I was forced to use the only fast lens I had with me today, the 100 macro whereas a proper wide angle would have better I think. Also, it was a weird angle to shoot from.

If in case you are wondering what it is. This is looking up from the bottom of the stairwell up all the way to the fifth floor along the staircase in the old Institute for Genetics building where our mouse facility is based.

Katya

Katya
This is my Russian friend Katya. She had asked me to take a photo of her when we had gone to the Christmas market, a little more than a week ago. As I clicked the shutter some guy entered the frame…grr! I did take a couple more shots but I liked this one the best, in spite of the inadvertent entry. What do you think?

Luckily, this photo was not lost in the hard drive crash as I had processed these and stored them in a separate location. Oh, and a very Happy New Year folks!

Looking Ahead

Looking Ahead
Disaster seems to have fallen in love with me. The day I turned in my 5D for repair I came back home to find that my external hard drive had crashed. To make matter worse I had failed to backup my most recent photos, numbering around 150. I tried to recover, but as my luck would have it I could recover almost everything else except for my photos!

This is one of the three original (RAW) files I managed to recover. Oh well, I hope my luck in the new year will be better. On that note I’ll sign off for now. Here’s wishing you all a Happy New Year. Hope the year ahead will be good for you. See you next year!

Stony Trees

Stony Trees
Unfortunately, today I had to given in my 5D for repair after it developed a problem. So I’ll be depending on photos I’ve shot over the past couple of weeks and the photos I’ve scanned (or still have to scan) from my film negs. I hope that I’ll have enough until the 5D comes back from repair.

This is from a Christmas market I went to last week. This stall was selling all kinds of stones from all over the world. However, these little trees caught my eye.

Multitude

Multitude
Yesterday, I went to one of the Christmas markets here with a friend. I managed to get a few decent shots which I’ll post over the next few days, starting with this. It was from a stall that had a huge display of these figures. Each one of these ‘characters’ tells a story.

Untitled 01

Untitled 01
This is something from a while back. The weather now is nowhere as good as it was on the day this photo was taken. Can’t say what exactly it is but it looked like a faded flower bud to me. I’ve another photo of this shot from a different angle which I’ll be posting tomorrow.

Second one from the same place as yesterday. Again, the light is not great in this shot but I find the movement of the two kids quite funky!
