Little Creatures

Something from Heidelberg. This was one of a couple of strange little creatures next to the gate on the oldest bridge over the river Neckar. Perhaps, it is simply a mouse!

This is similar to a photo I posted some days back, being from the same place, although this one is from a more standard perspective. The colors are not artificial, I just boosted the saturation, tweaked the curves and increased the contrast to obtain the results you see.

When in Heidelberg we were lucky enough to catch the fireworks show, which is held only twice a year apparently. This is not the best fireworks photo I got but I like it for its electric nature if you see what I mean. I only wish I had got the whole of the blast in the frame.

As I had mentioned a couple of days back I had been to Heidelberg over the last weekend. It is a beautiful little university town. Today’s photo is from there. It is the aula (auditorium in english) of the university where degrees of certain faculties are still granted.

This is a friend of mine for whom I did a basic photo shoot a little more than a week ago. Today’s photo is from that shoot. There are a few more photos I liked from that shoot so you can expect to see more of him in future.
I know I did not do very good job with the exposure in this shot but I still like the way it has come out. The whole mood and the poise of my friend invokes a feeling of haughtiness and a whiff of royalty! He was a very willing model by the way, completely relaxed and uninhibited before the camera.

I shot this from different angles but in the end liked this one the best. The tilt works in my opinion.

Looks like I’ll get to shoot a little today as the weather has cleared here finally. In the meantime, here is something from the archives. This is the main concert hall of the beautiful Staatsopera in Vienna where I got to see Wagner’s Parsifal. I wanted to post this in monochrome but wasn’t happy with the results I got so here is the original color version instead, albeit slightly cropped.

Here is the huge Hofburg palace in Vienna, sometimes refered to as the mini-Versailles. This photo has undergone extensive post-processing. There wasn’t much dynamic range in the original image and therefore I increased this by quite a bit. It is now as close as possible to the way I had originally visualized it. It is also cropped and perspective corrected.

This one is dedicated to these five nice people. They are from India and are studying law there. I ran into them in Vienna. We had some great time together.

I’ve not been very regular in posting photos this past week due to various things coming up so I decided to post today’s earlier than usual. This is also from Vienna, it is the dome of the entrance building to the huge Hofburg palace complex. Although, ideally, I’d have liked to get the whole of the dome in the shot to really bring out that symmetry (it was too wide even for a wide angle lens) I’m quite satisfied with the way this has turned out. Hope you like it as well.
