The Abbey

Fame and death are my foundations. So many great souls sleeping in quiet corners only to tip toe around and whisper dark secrets to each other in the night. Come, come inside and get reflected in the soft light of accumulated genius.

Who wants to lead the Senate and thereby rule the Galactic Empire?

In a world fast losing its hold on sanity she prays. For deliverance. For forgiveness. For peace. For hope. She prays in the mistaken expectation that someone somewhere is listening.

Standing alone, like a prima donna, she ignores the world around. Surrounded by the shining baubles of a superficial world she is nonchalant, confident of her infinite charm and easy allure. A stylish icon for the digital age and a madonna of the future, she’s got the look!

The heat, the wet wet heat clings to me like a second skin. I dream of blue lagoons, white sandy beaches, floating on water with a cool mango lassi, tongue numbed by ice-cubes. She laughs at my discomfort and dreams, a tinkling laugh flowing like a fresh waterfall.

Abandoned and empty. A place where time has no meaning and the windows look into emptiness. The world moved on, into newer places. But the old still exists. In a world all its own. Stripped almost bare yet full of meaning, waiting to be understood.

Something from my archives. I almost always post portraits in b/w. But there was a certain harmony to the colors in this photo and therefore I refrained from converting it to monochrome. Hope you will the feel the same once you look at the photo!

Once upon a time
In a land faraway
There was a man that time forgot
He aged but backwards
The wisdom of age giving way
To the passionate anger of youth
He fought with gods and fairies
To reverse the flow of time
To set right all that was wrong
But alas! destiny denied him
His just victory
He is but a faint memory now
In the eye of his beholder

As the title (playfully) suggests this is the fourth photo of Luis that I’m posting on this photolog. You can see his earlier photos [here](http://visual.arthedains.com/index.php?showimage=166), [here](http://visual.arthedains.com/index.php?showimage=165) and my favorite of the three, [here](http://visual.arthedains.com/index.php?showimage=163). Although the high key look was not intentional I enhanced it while processing as imo it gives a very contemporary feel to the photo.

Color management is such a pain! I recently shifted to ProPhoto RGB from Adobe RGB color space and whenever I save files in sRGB the photos come out so flat and dull looking! I don’t know if this is because I’m using a different laptop from my usual one or perhaps I’m doing something wrong. In any case today’s photo looks so much better in the original color space. There is much more detail in the grass at the bottom.
Update (28.06.06): Reading my comment above again makes me wonder how stupid I must have been to write that stuff. Of course, sRGB has a limited gamut and therefore colors will look less saturated in that color space. Either I was drunk when I wrote the above stuff or I must have not been using my brain!
