Snow Owl

Shot through the cage in very low light therefore the quality is not that great but I still like the way the owl looks back.

Ths is one of the rare animal photos on this blog. Perhaps, you will see a couple more animal photos over the next few days.

Hemingway smiled in my head.

This is a photo shot about a month back. I did not post this until now as I wasn’t very sure if it worked or not. You can say that I’ve changed my mind a little. Of course, it is not a perfect macro being as it was my first and only try so far of an insect macro. With hindsight, using a tripod and increasing the dof would have made the photo better imo.

Even though I’ve quite a few recent photos sitting on my hard drive I’ve been unable to choose one from them to post today. Instead, here is something from my archives. I almost trashed this but after some cropping and PP it seems worth posting.

Disaster seems to have fallen in love with me. The day I turned in my 5D for repair I came back home to find that my external hard drive had crashed. To make matter worse I had failed to backup my most recent photos, numbering around 150. I tried to recover, but as my luck would have it I could recover almost everything else except for my photos!
This is one of the three original (RAW) files I managed to recover. Oh well, I hope my luck in the new year will be better. On that note I’ll sign off for now. Here’s wishing you all a Happy New Year. Hope the year ahead will be good for you. See you next year!

I took quite a few shots of ducks and gulls on that recent visit to the park. I’ll start off with this one. These ducks are quite used to humans as visitors to the park keep offering food to them. So they don’t run away as long as you do not get too close. This coupled with a medium tele lens lets you get decent close-up shots.

These two were trying to take a nice afternoon nap and the guy with the open eye was a little wary of this short guy peering through a black thing pointed at him and disturbing his pleasant nap!

Not spot on but I like the sense of dynamic motion (is that an oxymoron?) in this picture.
