Let There Be Light
Nothing much to say here except that I got this photo near the Dom here.

This is a photo from my trip to Vienna in April of this year. This was shot near the Danube insel (island) in the city.
When in Heidelberg we were lucky enough to catch the fireworks show, which is held only twice a year apparently. This is not the best fireworks photo I got but I like it for its electric nature if you see what I mean. I only wish I had got the whole of the blast in the frame.
Patriot Act does not water down civil liberties.

Those who give up essential liberties for temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

(Note-22.05.06: Unfortunately, my laptop crashed yesterday and looks like I’ve to give it in for repair. It might be gone for a few weeks. So I don’t think I’ll able to post quite as regularly as before. I’ll try to post, if possible, from this Mac in my lab. Fortunately, I made a backup of my photos, lab data etc., a few days back so hopefully I haven’t lost anything. Keep your fingers crossed and do keep visiting!)
Here is something from my garden. It comes from a weed which grows everywhere here and has these puffy, very delicate feather-like balls at the tip of their stems. No idea what they are called though. Does anyone know?
I shot this through a train window yesterday.
Although I went out of Cologne today to a nearby town on a photographic trip, I couldn’t decide on a photo to post from that trip. So here is something old instead. I hope you can guess why I named the photo thus! I’m quite happy with the way this photo has turned out. Initially, I had thought of posting this in color but the monochrome version which resulted after PP won hands down in the end!
Although I wish both the stems were in focus I still like the way this photo has come out. I find it to be quite surreal.
From the rich, saturated colors of the previous photo let us move on to the simplicity of monochrome with today’s photo! This is from a while back. As the title suggests, I like the fluid like quality of the tree’s bark.
Finding very good deals, I splurged and bought myself two wonderful cameras recently, one is the professional film camera, Minolta Dynax 9 and the other is the excellent Minolta Dynax 7D, the bigger sibling of my existing 5D. The former, now sadly discontinued, I bought cheap because of a defect and so is sent for repair but I took the latter out for a spin yesterday and today. The 7D is a superb camera to handle, fitting like a glove into my hands, with every control at your fingertips like in the old film cameras and not buried in some hidden menu feature. Due to Minolta’s exit from the camera business there are some really good deals to be had for the 7D (or the 5D). If you are looking to buy a dSLR I’d very strongly recommend this (or the 5D). I’m sure you will not be disappointed by them.
This is from yesterday’s shoot. It is the shop front of the recently opened Peek and Cloppenburg store. The building was long time in the making, needing nearly four years to finish after a series of delays. Clothes are really good, but of course, it is uber expensive and only for those whose wallets are really heavy!
